Influence of Control in Cycling Degradation When Batteries Perform PV Ramp-Rate Control

This work studies the importance of correct selection control parameters in order to avoid unnecessary cycling batteries when they perform PV smoothing. The classic ramp-rate method (CRRC) is studied as smoothing technique and key role state charge (SOC) analyzed for a real 38.5 MW plant, particularly influence proportional gain ( $K$ ). Depending on , battery degradation (CyD), power requirements, SOC limits throughout energy performance were discussed. According results, tuning could prolong lifespan by reducing up 80% (depending fluctuation restrictions ) avoiding losses, requirements undesirable operation levels. Finally, simple general rule proposed set value CRRC used its applicability tested simulating two additional plants with rated 1.1 75.6 MW.
